In my opinion, the movie Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 1, was better than the book Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows in the parts it has covered so far. It deviated just enough from the book to gloss over the boring parts that were usually written in there, but stayed on track just enough to put in and emphasize all of the important points.

it was okay, but very rushed in parts. I am hoping the final one will slow down a lot and give the important parts the time they need!

Yeah, agree with post 5. I finally saw DH tonight. I had been wanting to go since Friday. It was so cool. Really like the Ron/Hermione parts. Aww it was sad when Dobby died. I can't wait for the second part!

I want to go see it as well. I may have to talk my mom into going, not that I'd mind that at all, since my wife has yet to see it and has a strict policy about reading the book first. Problem is with her work schedule she has so little time for reading. But I really want to g see it in the theater since I so rarely do that these days. So the best bet is my mom or, if he makes it out here within the next few weeks like he says he plans to, my brother. I'm a little skeptical about their giving the important parts time since in the past those have been rushed. What particularly irks me is the lack of Harry/Dumbledore interaction (no obviously I don't mean slash LOL). Anyone who's read the books will know what I mean. I refer to the big conversation between Harry and Dumbledore that occurs at the end of most books. Well that and I've never particularly cared for Michael Gambon as Dumbledore. I just don't think he has that spark of mischief that's always lurking under the surface. He does the serious parts reasonably well but I don't feel he quite does the part justice. Just a minor complaint though. Now Ralph Fiennes as Voldemort is another matter entirely. He doesn't have the high, cold voice tt JKR describes (wellthe cold, intimidating part he does do well), but there's just something about him that if I were Harry would make me want to be extra wary whenever I came face to face with him. I think he's a lot more menacing in the movie in a way. But like I said I think I'll try and talk my mom into taking me to see it since she's seen all but the sixth movie. And we could remedy that before we went LOL.

I loved it, and can't wait for the second part!! it's a shame we have to wait a whole nother year.

Post 11 by maddog (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Friday, 26-Nov-2010 18:02:57

You don't have to wait another year, the next part comes out on July 15th. Also to post 9, the big conversation between Harry and Dumbledore is not in this movie, since this particular one is done to cover only the first...oh, 24 or 25 chapters of book 7, which is nowhere near where the conversation between harry and Dumbledore actually takes place. Though to be honest, I really hope they don't actually put in the conversation that harry and Dumbledore had at the end of book 7. It was completely lame and pointless, and too...well, make-belief in my opinion. I think the author was just trying and did a horrible job of keeping up one of her traditions in any way she could.

I know that. What I was saying is that those big conversations have been almost entirely left out since the third movie or at most barely touched upon. The way Gambon portrays Dumbledore it's almost as if Harry was an afterthought and that's always gotten on my nerves a little. I was aware of the fact that this is only the first half of the movie.

I saw it over the weekend. It was good. They did a better job of sticking to the book and not making stuff up. There were a few changes, but nothing that really annoyed me like with HP6. They also seemed to do a better job of including all the important stuff. There were a couple of things left out that I wish would've been there just because I thought they were nice touches in the book, but it wasn't anything that affected the story so no big deal. Just a personal preference thing.

Yeah. I've always felt the first two films were the best about sticking as close to the story as possible since they had the same director. Then it just seems like it went out the window each time a new director took over.

Harry Potter was awesome! Lots of action, it was sad in some parts but good. Fav parts: right before Snape dies, when Harry's looking at Snape's memories, when Harry gets to talk to his parents and Remus before going to Voldemort, really liked Luna and Neville in this one, Molly and Bellatrix fighting, and the end with their kids. Really enjoyed it. :)

I liked the second part, too. and i agree that the first 2 were the best when it comes to not leaving out parts of the story. Voldemort's voice was good, I think, in the first movie. It was high-pitched, and it did sound menacing. They really should've stuck to that. And as for Dumbledore, an actor that actually sounds old would've been better. These are just my preferences. All the movies are great, though!

Seeing Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows-Part 2 in 3D was awesome! We really enjoyed it! I would love to see it in descriptive though since there were a few scenes that went by a little too quickly for me to keep up with. Something did happen while we were there that annoy me, but I’ll explain about that in another entry.

I cried during three different parts of the movie. One of them was very unexpected since it was in the book as well and I didn’t’ cry when I read it. It was when Snape died.

I Guess it has to do with hand awesome fanfic series I just finished reading on ff.net. It had to do with Harry having a younger sister named Paige. Paige was six months younger than Harry. Paige was awesome! She was in Slitherin despite the fact that she had more Gryffindor in her. When Snape died in the author’s version of Deathly Hallows, I started crying because Paige was so close to him and he had been loyal to her, despite his past problems with James.

The second part was when Harry’s mother talked to him after she came back to be part of his guard during his walk into the forbidden forest to face “you-know-who.” The scene was very bittersweet.

The third part was a very sweet scene between Harry, Hermione and Ron just before Harry goes to face “you-know-who.” It was one of my favorite scenes in the movie ,even though it was sad.

I also loved Luna in this movie! I LOVE her in all the movies she’s been in, but this one tops them all for her performance! “Harry James Potter, you listen to me right now!” That was awesome!

Another part I really loved was Harry’s interaction with Professor Magonagle! My favorite part of the book where harry saves her from the Caro’s wasn’t in it, but they did a good job supplementing for it.

The epilogue was pretty cool too! They kept my favorite part in it from the book, so I was happy. They also kept most of The Prince’s Tale in the movie as well! YAY! My Dad was cheerng when Mrs. Weasley killed Bellatrix as was I!
Overall, the experience was really nice. My Dad asked a lot of questions and made a lot of guesses that weren’t right, but it was fun all the same. My favorite one was when he kept saying the “You-know-who” was Harry’s brother! Then he thought Snape was Harry’s father! GOL! I also cried when Harry’s mother talked to him once she had come back with the others to be his guard when he went into the forbidden forest. I definitely want to see it at least one more time!

I need to see part 1 before I see part 2. Iagree that they could have picked a much better Dumbledore after Richard Harris died ad I don't like how Harry and Dumbledore's more grandfather/grandson relationship if that's what we want to call it, was cut from films three onwards. Any interaction between them seemed tagged on almost as an afterthought. Then of course Michael Gambon lacked that hint of mischief that always seemed to be lurking beneath the surface with Dumbledore. I do, however, like Ralph Fiennes' Voldemort. He just has that air of cold cruelty tat I always picturedfrom Voldemort. Yeah is voice is deeper than Voldemort is described as having but other than that I don't think they could have picked a much better actor. And there was talk of John Malkovich getting the part. And while I like Malkovich I definitely don't know if that would have been right, and not merely because he's not British.

I loved both parts! noticed some things they left out in part 2 but oh well. Like not showing harry asking Valdie to try to have remorse, and why the snake chased Nevel i don't know, but it was still awesome! yay!
